What to Expect
Before Your First Session
Welcome! Whether you are new to therapy, or have had experience with therapy in the past; the process of finding a new therapist can be a daunting, and challenging process.
As such, I will try to make the process as simple, and accessible as possible
Research shows that a ‘good fit’ in terms of a therapist is one of the most important factors of success in therapy.
Due to this, I offer free 15-minute consultations for you to consider whether or not I may be a good fit for you, and your current goals.
In this consultation you will have the opportunity to discuss what you’re hoping to get from therapy, and some goals overall.
The consultation is also a chance for you to get a sense of me, and the way I practice. It is also a space where you can ask any further questions or concerns you may have.
I recognize that a good fit in regards to a therapist can be hard to find, and it can be a process that requires consideration.
As such, I will not pressure you to book a paid session, and I typically encourage individuals to take some time after the consultation to consider how they would like to move forwards before booking an initial paid appointment.
If you feel comfortable moving forward you can book your initial session through jane (an online booking app) with the button located on the banner.
After booking, you’ll receive an intake form with some general questions/areas to fill out as well as some consent forms reviewing the limits of confidentiality as well as the potential risks/benefits of psychotherapy.
First Session
The first session booked will be booked for 80 minutes to ensure that we have enough time as I start by going through a brief intake assessment collecting your history, as well as outlining goals for therapy so that I am best able to support you.
In this session, I will work with you to develop a therapeutic plan that work towards your goals, and to determine a pace that works for you.
Ongoing Sessions
Ongoing sessions can be booked for 50-80 minutes depending on what best works for you.
I try to be as collaborative, and transparent as possible in the work. As such, I am very open to feedback in regards to my work with you.
If you ever feel like there’s feedback you’d like to offer, I often try to hold space for discussions, and reflections regarding your experience in therapy overall.
